Shantal Johnson, Director, Commission on Nurse Certification, Washington, DC

Shantal Johnson has served as Director of the Commission on Nursing Certification since 2014. She has over 10 years of experience developing and managing professional certification programs. In addition to hosting CNC Radio, Mrs. Johnson, along with the CNC Board of Commissioners, is responsible for building awareness of the certified CNL and overseeing the CNL Certification Program. During her career, she has led the development of national education conferences, elearning programs, internship programs, benchmarking tools and career centers. Mrs. Johnson is a member of ASAE and ICE.

Christine M Ralyea, DNP, CNL, Assistant Vice President Patient Care Services Carolinas Medical Center

Dr. Tina Ralyea has over 35 years of heath care and 30 leaders in leadership. She serves as the Assistant Vice President Patient Care Services and has oversight for the ever-growing Clinical Nurse Leader program at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. Tina has strong change management skills supporting the rapid changes in healthcare. She has a passion for patient safety and quality.

She is an adjunct faculty at Queens University supporting CNL capstone projects. In her spare time, she enjoys professional writing, which she was a co-editor for a population health textbook for advance care providers.

Connie S. Garret, MSN, CNL, AORN Nominating Committee VHA (ONS) Perioperative Field Advisor James A. Haley Veterans Hospital

Connie Garrett is a board certified Clinical Nurse Leader with a major focus on teaching perioperative nurses’ Standards of Care, AORN Guidelines, and the RN scrub role in James A. Haley Veterans’ Health Administration. Her CNL role encompasses evidence-based practice initiatives improving patient outcomes including infection control prevention and pressure injury reduction. She’s a CNL graduate from the University of South Florida.

Connie is a perioperative Six Sigma yellow belt, President Elect for AORN of Tampa Bay, member of the National AORN Nominating Committee, practice Chair of the AORN Collaborative Committee and member of the Veterans Health Administration Perioperative Field Advisory Committee.

Deborah Hurley DNP, RN, CCRN-K, CNL

Deb received her Associates degree from Monroe Community College, Bachelor’s from Brockport College and Master’s degree from the University of Rochester, School of Nursing. In May of 2017 she earned a Doctorate in Nursing Practice. Deb is the recipient of the 2012 Professional Development National Nurses Week Award. She has been instrumental in mentoring staff to obtain professional certification and has also promoted membership to professional organizations. Deb is a member and volunteer of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. Currently serving as a Chapter Advisor for the New York State Chapters as well as past president for the local chapter of AACN.

Luis A. Rosario-McCabe, DNP, RN, WHNP-BC, CNL

Dr. Luis A. Rosario-McCabe earned his Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the University of Rochester School of Nursing in Rochester, NY in 2017. His doctoral project was designing, implementing, and evaluating a team-based transgender cultural education program for an ambulatory women’s health practice. He earned a Post-Master’s Clinical Nurse Leader Certificate in 2015 and his Master’s in Nursing with a concentration in Women’s Health in 1995, both from the University of Rochester School of Nursing. He is a board-certified women’s health nurse practitioner and a certified clinical nurse leader. He practices as a nurse practitioner at the UR Medicine Women’s Health Practice and is an assistant professor of clinical nursing at the University of Rochester School of Nursing.

He is a member of Sigma Theta Tau international and the Gay and Lesbian Medical Association. He is on the LGBT Taskforce of Health Care for All New York and is on the board of directors of the Gay Alliance of the Genesee Valley in Rochester, NY.
